Where to Watch Fireworks In the Queen City This Summer

Summer is finally here and Charlotte’s biggest 4th of July celebrations are back in 2022! The summer months are a perfect time to get outdoors to enjoy concerts, gatherings, events, and so much more. We have put together a list of the best places to celebrate the 4th of July in the Queen City this year!

WBT SkyShow: Fireworks after Team USA Baseball

When: Monday, July 4th, 2022

WBT SkyShow is returning to Charlotte right after the Team USA Baseball game. The game starts at 6:05 p.m. at Truist Field. You can access the link to tickets here. If tickets sell out, you can watch the fireworks from Romare Bearden Park!

U.S. National Whitewater Center 4th of July Celebration

When: Sunday, July 3rd, 2022, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. & Monday, July 4th, 2022, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Head out to the USNWC to enjoy a fun-packed weekend! With free admission, there will be yoga and live music. Currently, there is no fireworks show but check their website if it changes. Parking is $6 per car, and the Whitewater Center’s 30+ recreational experiences are available at a regular price. Live music by CBDB and Doom Flamingo on Sunday and by Big Daddy Love and Sam Bush on Monday.

Charlotte Motor Speedway

When: Tuesdays from June 28th to August 2nd, 2022

Cook Out Summer Shootout takes place at the Charlotte Motor Speedway throughout the summer on Tuesdays. On July 5th, 2022, the theme is Red White and Brews. First responders are admitted for free. There will be a driver autograph session, and a fireworks display.

Optimist Hall

When: Saturday, July 2nd, 2022; 9:30 p.m.

Star Spangled Saturday takes place from 6:15 to 10 p.m. and includes live music, followed by a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. Pro tip: Get there early and try one of the many delicious food stands at this NoDa staple. 

Carowinds Celebrate America Fireworks 

When: July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, 2022

After an adventurous day exploring the park’s roller coasters, sit back and relax while watching the fireworks display later at night! 

Fort Mill Independence Day Celebration

When: July 2nd, 2022, from 5 to 9:30 p.m.

The Fort Mill Independence Day Celebration will take place on Main Street in Fort Mill. You can expect live music, kids’ activities, a wide variety of vendors, and the annual firing of the town cannons. After these activities, gather around with the family and enjoy the fireworks show! 

Lake Wylie Fireworks Display

When: Monday, July 4th, 2022; 9:30 p.m.

The annual Lake Wylie fireworks will be shot off from Lake Wylie by the Buster Boyd Bridge, S.C. Hwy 49. Pro Tip: Some of the best views will be at one of Lake Wylie’s waterfront restaurants such as Papa Doc’s Shore Club.

City of Gastonia 4th of July Celebration

When: Monday, July 4th, 2022, from 5 to 9:30 p.m.

The city of Gastonia will be holding a 4th of July celebration at the Rotary Centennial Pavilion. It will feature food trucks, vendors, entertainment, a free KidsZone and fireworks. 

Birkdale Village 4th of July Celebration 

When: Monday, July 4th, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Birkdale’s Village Celebration will include a bike parade and entertainment! The Birkdale Village’s 4th of July wet down with the fire department is back this year as well! You can also expect a live DJ, face painters, stilt walkers, magicians and more!
