The Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. (JLC) is hosting Big Shots Saturdays and Kids HealthLink, providing immunizations and health education in September. During our first event, held on Saturday, August 28, 2010, we saw nearly 90 children and gave more than 450 free health services and immunizations through Big Shots Saturdays and Kids HealthLink. These community events stem from the Junior League of Charlotte’s Healthy Child Initiative (HCI). Spanish language interpreters will be available. Parents/guardians must bring official immunization records and at least ONE form of I.D. The event will take place at Merry Oaks Elementary.
This free festival is open to the public and provides free immunizations and free health assessments, including vision, hearing and dental; along with entertainment, giveaways and education topics for children. For more information, visit www.jlcharlotte.org
The JLC’s Healthy Child Initiative (HCI) is a multi-year commitment to raising the awareness of children’s health issues, particularly in the areas of mental, dental and physical health in our community. Additional sponsors include Carolina Panthers Charities, Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Earth Fare, Fifth-Third Bank, Levine Children’s Hospital, Mecklenburg County Health Department and Speedway Children’s Charities and local Charlotte radio stations, WPEG-FM and WBAV-FM.
